Montgomery, Ala. – The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitor Bureau (MCVB) has launched a new customer service campaign in hopes of making every visitor experience a positive one. The goal of this educational program is to increase travel in Montgomery and the River Region.

The MCVB has developed an ongoing training process with all local hotels to educate their employees on providing “concierge visitor service.” Hotel staff will be coached on how to use the CVB website, available marketing tools, and how to respond to visitor inquiries. Also incorporated into the program will be a CVB 101 lesson about who the CVB is, what the CVB can do for its industry partners and how to get in touch with the staff to better cross-sell Montgomery in order to generate more leisure travel business. While initially focused on hoteliers, the program will be expanded to include restaurants, attractions and all sectors of the hospitality industry.

If every guest has a positive experience here, it will lead to important but classic “word of mouth” marketing which in turn increases overall convention and tourism business for our city. The city will continue to shine in the eyes of the public making it easier to sell the city to key decision makers. Economically, visitors are proven to spend more on each visit if they are directed by ambassadors to venues that match their interests (i.e. food, attractions, shopping, entertainment, etc.).

This collaborative program will bring Montgomery’s tourism partners together with the common goal of promoting a consistent message: that Montgomery is a great place to live, work, play and visit.
