AHSAA South Super Regional Cheer Competition

Mobile Civic Center

November 3

Come out and cheer for your favorite middle school and varsity squads at the Alabama High School Athletic Association South Super Regional Cheer Competition. Over 83 cheer squads will be vying for a spot to compete at the State Cheer Finals scheduled for December 5 - 6, 2022, at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, AL.

The South Super Regional Cheer Competition begins at 9 AM.

Admission for spectators - $10; kids 4 and under - Free; Tickets available through GOFAN.

Gulf Atlantic District Volleyball Championship

Mobile Civic Center

November 4 – 6

This three-day National Junior College Athletic Association-sanctioned championship tournament features eight teams in a double-elimination format. This is a qualifying tournament for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament. Don't miss the chance to see junior college volleyball at its best!

Admission for spectators - $5; kids 5 and under – Free

2022 ARPA State Youth Flag Football Tournament

Over 15 teams from throughout the state will compete in the 2022 Alabama Parks & Recreation Association (ARPA) State Youth Flag Football Tournament hosted by the Mobile Parks & Recreation Dept. and the Mobile Sports Authority.  

Teams will compete in the following age divisions:

8 & Under

10 & Under

12 & Under

14 & Under

Admission for spectators: Adult (18 and older) $5; Youth (6-17) $3; Kids (5 and under) free

Ladd-Peebles Stadium

Football for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is heading to the city of Mobile this fall! The Ultimate HBCU Experience is Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 4:00 pm at Ladd-Peebles Stadium featuring the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University vs. the Tigers of Jackson State University led by Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders.  

Festivities begin Wednesday, November 9, and continue throughout the week. For the full schedule, check out the MSA website. Don't miss out on all the fun!

Gulf Coast Clash High School Wrestling Tournament

November 18 - 19

The 4th annual Gulf Coast Clash presented by the Mobile Sports Authority is Friday, November 18th, and Saturday, November 19th, at the Mobile Civic Center. This year’s tournament features teams from the southeastern United States, including multiple defending state championship teams and individuals! This year’s event features an Elite bracket in addition to a regular varsity bracket!

This year’s tournament will have a separate Girl’s Division! Girl’s Wrestling is one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. today, and this is the 3rd year for a Girl’s State Championship in Alabama! The Top 3 Girl’s Wrestling teams in the state will be there, so don’t miss this early season preview of the 2023 Girl’s State Championship!

AHSAA South Sectional Swim & Dive Meet

Fredericka G. Evans Cultural Centre (Bishop State Community College)

November 18 - 19

This annual event will be held in the Fredericka G. Evans Cultural Centre on the main campus of Bishop State. The two-day meet serves as the AHSAA South Sectional Championship as student-athletes compete for a qualifying spot to advance to the Alabama State Championship in Auburn.

37th Annual Lyons Park Turkey Day Tennis Classic

November 18 - 20

This much-anticipated tournament takes place at the Mobile Tennis Center days before the Thanksgiving holiday. As always, the Turkey Day Classic is a fun-filled three days of food, prizes, and competition. It is open to all ages 18 and above.

This tournament benefits the New Lyons Park Tennis Association programs, tutoring, and other initiatives.  

Fun fact - this is the only tournament in the U.S. where the winner receives both a first-place trophy and a turkey!
