As temperatures warm up along Alabama’s beaches, the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission is gearing up for a solid spring 2020 lineup with more than 30 events slated for March through May. From collegiate volleyball and track championships to high school tournaments and an array of races, there are plenty of events for participants and spectators alike to experience.

Beth Gendler, vice president of sales for the Sports Commission, says sports tourism continues to grow and contributes greatly to the local municipalities’ economic impact.

“Thanks to the countless athletes, coaches, families and fans who travel to coastal Alabama for athletic events, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach saw $121.44 million in sports economic impact in 2019,” noted Gendler. “The genuine hospitality these visitors encounter from the front desk at their accommodations to the grocery store check-out line resonates and gives them yet another reason to return for their next family vacation.”
