Following the success of the ITA Summer and Fall Circuits, the ITA and Universal Tennis are offering a new three-week Winter Circuit during December. The Winter Circuit is the next extension of the ITA Tour --  an initiative to provide safe local and regional matchplay opportunities to collegiate, junior, and professional players.

“One of the ITA’s primary goals since the onset of this pandemic has been to provide as many local and regional play opportunities as possible while keeping the health, safety and welfare of our participants as our number one priority,” Cory Brooks, ITA Senior Director of Championships, said. “Since mid-June over 5000 junior, collegiate and professional tennis players have competed in an ITA Tour by UTR event. We are thrilled to continue this exciting partnership with Universal Tennis for an additional three weeks of events in December!”

The ITA Winter Circuit by UTRkicks off the weekend of December 4th and will run through the weekend of December 18th. Players will have the opportunity to participate in competition and have their scores count towards the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR). When match scores count for UTR, players can continue to play locally and have their matches count for a global rating, allowing them to track their progress and showcase their game.

“We’re excited to extend the successful ITA Fall Circuit by UTR into the winter to continue to support junior, collegiate and professional tennis players with safe, local opportunities to compete in tournaments that will count for their global rating,” said Stephen Amritraj, Universal Tennis Chief Tennis Officer.

The Circuit will follow strict health, safety, and social distancing guidelines, and is a continuation of the joint effort by the ITA and Universal Tennis to provide opportunities for high-level competition for junior, collegiate, and professional players. As many tennis seasons have been reduced or canceled, the Tour will give college coaches the opportunity to provide local matchplay for their players and increase engagement with their broader regional tennis community.

Registration will be open for select events on November 10th. Players must have a current 2020-2021 ITA Player Membershipto register for events.
