USA Paratriathlon, a program of USA Triathlon, and the Chicago-based Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club have formed a partnership for the 2015 USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series to provide top-level competitive opportunities for the nation's emerging paratriathletes.
The USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series presented by Dare2tri is the premier national-level racing circuit for up-and-coming paratriathletes in the United States. Created to add domestic racing options on the paratriathlon calendar, this series features four races between May and August beginning with the 2015 USA Paratriathlon National Championships on May 25 in Austin, Texas. Other series events include Pleasant Prairie Triathlon on June 21 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Nantucket Triathlon on July 18 in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and the Tri Santa Cruz on Aug. 9 in Santa Cruz, California.
"With the ever-growing paratriathlon landscape, USA Triathlon has identified the need to offer a mid-level competition platform for emerging paratriathletes in the United States," said Amanda Duke Boulet, USA Triathlon Paratriathlon Program Manager. "Paratriathlon will make its debut in the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and this domestic series is a vehicle where emerging talent can assess potential success on the ITU circuit and upcoming Paralympic Games."
The series events in Pleasant Prairie, Nantucket and Santa Cruz will each offer a $5,000 prize purse to be paid by Dare2tri and distributed evenly between men and women in each of the five sport classes ($500 per sport class per event). Dare2tri will also award $500 in prize money to overall series winners in each sport class.

Athletes must compete in at least three series events to be considered for awards and prize money. Additionally, athletes must race in the paratriathlon division, hold a valid USA Triathlon annual license and have a "C", "R" or "P" sport class status from USA Triathlon or ITU. Athletes who hold an elite paratriathlete membership are not eligible for prize money or awards.
