“Bridge to Cuba” Details First Appearance of a Pro Sport Team in Havana Since Restoration of Diplomatic Relations

Soccer America Daily has reported that "A Bridge to Cuba," a documentary on New York Cosmos' trip to Havana -- the first appearance by a U.S. pro sports team in Cuba since it and the USA announced they would seek to restore diplomatic relations -- will air on ONE World Sports (live stream at ONEWorldSports.com) on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET following the Cosmos-Ft. Lauderdale semifinal that will also air on the network.

ONE World Sports accompanied the Cosmos on the June trip to telecast their friendly match against the Cuban national team.

Shortly after the trip, U.S.-Cuba diplomatic relations were restored for the first time since 1961.

"When we embarked on this trip to Cuba, we knew we were in a unique position to have an insider's view of history being made," said Joel Feld, ONE World Sports Executive Vice President, Programming & Production said in a press release. "What amazed us even more was how welcoming the country was in giving us such free access to the city, the people and the Cuban federation to communicate their thoughts, their overall impressions of the U.S. and the role soccer has played in bridging the gap between once opposing nations."

This film marks the inaugural production of ONE World Sports Originals, a new unit developing original content to augment the network's live sports programming from around the world.
