Family-Oriented Race Series Also Offers Coaster Event, Benefits Local Charities

Roller Coaster Race will be adding several new locations this year to expand its series to six events. Each location will feature a 10K race, 5K run/walk, and its original-concept event, Roller Coaster Ride.

Roller Coaster Race encourages fitness and entertainment for the whole family by holding USATF-sanctioned running events at the park in the morning before it opens to the public. Later in the day while the park is open, participants in the Roller Coaster Ride attempt to ride a total distance of 5K on park coasters. People can sign up for a race, the Roller Coaster Ride, or both, and every registration comes with free admission to the host park.

Participants will have four new destinations to choose from in 2015, with the addition of races at Kennywood in Pittsburgh, Pa. (June 6); The Great Escape in Lake George, NY (July 18); Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas, Texas (Sept 20); and Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Ark. (Oct 17). The series will also return to Six Flags St. Louis (May 3) and Six Flags New England (Sept 6).

Race Director Adam Slate said of the new season, “We are bringing the Roller Coaster Race to some of the most beloved parks and great tourist destinations in the United States, which means will be able to share this unique and exciting event with even more runners, families, and coaster enthusiasts.”

Each race is offering an early bird signup special that includes the Roller Coaster Ride free with any race registration in addition to the lowest entry fees of the season. These deals have led to several events selling out prior to event weekend.

Each Roller Coaster Race also partners with a local charity, aiming to have a positive impact on its host community. In addition, the races support two national charities: SYTA Running for Youth and the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives.
