Regional Event Wins Title for Third Consecutive Year

The American Cowboy Rodeo Association (ACRA) has named Rodeo Miami as the 2012 Rodeo of the Year.  The Top 20 contestants in each event vote on the annual awards which are announced during the ACRA Finals held in Tulsa.  This is the third consecutive year that this regional organization has recognized the Miami event.

Rodeo Miami, which drew a record 430 contestants, is a combined effort of the Ottawa County Fair Board, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and the City of Miami.  Vance Ford Lincoln Mercury of Miami is the title sponsor of Rodeo Miami.  GRDA, Buffalo Run Casino and Quapaw Casino were presenting sponsors in 2012.  Media sponsors included KSN, KODE and the Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.  In 2011, Rodeo Miami was honored with a State Tourism Redbud Award for Best Partnership for this event.

The City of Miami notes this event as a major economic boost to the local economy.  As one of the signature events of the area, Rodeo Miami continues to bring visitors from many states and organizers anticipate those numbers to continue to set records.

Dates for 2013 have been set and Miami is excited to offer crowd pleasing, family entertainment for the four state area.  Rodeo Performances will take place at the Miami Fairgrounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.  Slack night will be held on Thursday, May 2 for the overflow of contestants.  Kids activities will be held on Friday & Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m.  A concert will take place on Saturday following the Rodeo Performance.  Tickets will be available for sale on April 1st at the Miami CVB at 101 N. Main Street or at participating Westco stores.  Tickets can also be purchased from any Princess or Queen Contestant.  Sponsorships and Vendor space are still available for this event.
