St. Louis to Host Hot Rod Showdown

Gateway Motorsports to be Venue for National Event

Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, MO, will host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the All American Hot Rod Showdown on August 8-9, 2014. The event is the one of six events in the North Central Division and one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division’s Brodix Steve Schmidt Top Sportsman Series and Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster Series will also be run in conjunction with the event.

Gates at Gateway Motorsports Park open at 7 a.m. both days.  Qualifying and time trials will run Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator will qualify Friday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Eliminations for Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator are Saturday at 4 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Friday at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. with eliminations on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Gateway Motorsports Park are $19 Friday and $19 Saturday. Children 12 years and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Parking is $5 per day.
