USA Triathlon will offer 2021 Olympic-Distance World Championship Qualifiers on Saturday, May 1 in Sebring, Florida, as part of the Sebring Multisport Festival produced by Integrity Multisport, and on Sunday, May 23 in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of the Playtri Fort Worth Triathlon. The events offer an additional opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2021 World Triathlon Age Group Standard (Olympic-Distance) Championships in Edmonton, Canada, set for Aug. 17-22.

Registration is open for both World Qualifier events. Click here to register for the Sebring Multisport Festival, and here to register for the Playtri Fort Worth Triathlon.

The World Qualifiers provide an opportunity for top age-group athletes who had hoped to punch their tickets to Worlds at the 2020 Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group Olympic-Distance National Championships in Milwaukee, which were canceled due to COVID-19. In addition, athletes who had previously qualified for the canceled 2020 Age Group Standard World Triathlon Championships in Edmonton were given the option to roll their qualification over to 2021. More details about the qualification process can be found at usatriathlon.org/teamusa.

The Sebring Multisport Festival is also hosting 2021 World Championship Qualifiers for a variety of other multisport disciplines, including Olympic-Distance Aquabike, Long Course Aquabike, Long Course Aquathlon, Long Course Triathlon and Long Course Duathlon. “We are very pleased to be able to offer athletes a chance to qualify to represent Team USA at the 2021 World Championships in the Olympic-Distance Triathlon at an event that already offers World Championship slots at our Long Course Triathlon, Long Course Duathlon, Long Course Aquabike, Olympic-Distance Aquabike and Aquathlon races on the same weekend in beautiful sunny Florida,” said Rob Childers, Founder and Race Director at Integrity Multisport. “Sebring is the perfect place to host this great event. It is uncrowded, yet has all the required amenities, and is only an hour away from Orlando.”

“Playtri Racing is excited about the opportunity to bring a World Championship Qualifier to the DFW area,” said Staci Brode, President of Playtri. “We are working hard to make sure the Fort Worth Triathlon provides a safe, but exciting and fun race atmosphere for all who are able to attend.”

“For the United States’ fastest amateur athletes, racing at the World Triathlon Age Group Championships is a pinnacle moment earned through countless hours of training and hard work. We didn’t want the cancelation of the 2020 Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group Nationals to result in a missed opportunity for athletes who had been chasing this goal, so it was important to USA Triathlon to identify other qualification pathways in 2021,” Brian D’Amico, USA Triathlon Director of Events. “We are grateful to Integrity Multisport and Playtri for their willingness to host these events in a safe and responsible manner, while maintaining a best-in-class experience for all participants.”

Both the Sebring Multisport Festival and the Playtri Fort Worth Triathlon will be held with COVID-19 safety precautions in place, according to USA Triathlon’s Safe Return to Multisport guidelines as well as any restrictions set by local authorities.
