IMG Media to Continue to Represent USTA Outside of the Americas to 2025

The USTA announced that it has renewed its agreement with IMG, a global leader in sports, media and fashion, as the US Open media consultant outside of the U.S., Canadian and Latin American territories until 2025.  The extension begins in 2017. IMG has been representing the USTA since 2013 and will continue to consult the USTA in media negotiations across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The 2014 US Open was seen in 200 countries and received more than 60,000 hours of domestic and international television coverage.

Gordon Smith, USTA Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, said: “We have been delighted with the way IMG has increased exposure and revenues for the US Open since we began working together and look forward to enhancing our relationship and growing the audience even further over the next ten years.”

Ed Mallaburn, Head of Tennis at IMG Media, said: “This is a big vote of confidence from the USTA and will allow us to work with them on their long-term objectives for the US Open. Our considerable experience and expertise in key markets around the world will continue to benefit this prestigious event.”

The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the U.S. and the leader in promoting and developing the growth of tennis at every level -- from local communities to the highest level of the professional game. A not-for-profit organization with more than 715,000 members, it invests 100% of its proceeds in growing the game. It owns and operates the US Open, the highest-attended annual sporting event in the world, and launched the Emirates Airline US Open Series, linking eight summer tournaments to the US Open. In addition, it owns approximately 90 Pro Circuit events throughout the U.S. and selects the teams for the Davis Cup, Fed Cup, Olympic and Paralympic Games. The USTA’s philanthropic entity, the USTA Foundation, provides grants and scholarships and helps under-resourced youth and individuals with disabilities, and supports  wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans and their families.
