Teams to Battle for Titles, National Ranking Points

The Super Y-League is pleased to announce it has entered into a partnership with GotSoccer, allowing the 2013 Super Y-League North American Finals presented by Nike to be the first GotSoccer-ranked event in the league’s history.

Teams at the SYL North American Finals, set for Thursday through Monday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, will not only compete for national championships, they will fight for increasingly valuable GotSoccer ranking points. Points will be awarded following the completion of the tournament.

“Of all the feedback we’ve received regarding the Super Y-League North American Finals in the past, one of the strongest concerns was the lack of national ranking points available to participating teams,” USL Youth Leagues & ODP Senior Director Natalie Akula said. “We’ve listened to the clubs, coaches, players and parents, and by joining with GotSoccer we have added to the prominence and competitiveness of the Super Y-League North American Finals.”

The Super Y-League is also working with GotSoccer to develop a rankings points system for its regular season competition, beginning with the 2014 season. Other aspects of the new relationship will see the Super Y-League utilizing GotSoccer’s tournament and league management tools, helping to extend the league’s national reach.

Created in 1999 with 12 teams, the Super Y-League now includes nearly 80 clubs from throughout the United States and Canada. A total of 115 boys and girls teams have qualified for the 2013 Super Y-League North American Finals in U12 through U17 age divisions, and will compete for as many as 9,000 GotSoccer ranking points per flight. Teams will compete in three days of group play December 5-7, with semifinals and finals set for December 8-9.

GotSoccer was founded in 1996 and has grown into the leading provider of youth soccer software in the nation.
