Franchise Launces Innovative Concession and Retail Payment Platform

The Sacramento Kings announced a new partnership with Appetize, a leading cloud-based point of sale (POS) platform, to enhance the fan experience. The Kings have implemented Appetize’s POS solutions venue-wide at Sleep Train Arena and will incorporate the system at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento, the future home of the Sacramento Kings.

As the Kings aim to leverage the latest and most effective technology solutions, Appetize’s POS suite replaces two separate legacy systems and introduces advanced payment options like Apple Pay, Google Wallet, RFID, Bluetooth and mobile ordering payments. Appetize will also integrate with the Kings loyalty platform, allowing fans to earn points via scanned ticket barcodes.

Additionally, the Kings will roll out Appetize’s mobile purchasing product inside its iOS and Android apps for fans to order items for concession pickup and direct-to-seat delivery.

“Our fans don’t want to miss a second of Kings basketball or world-class entertainment. Now that our concession stands have the latest technology and fans can order from their seat, they’ll spend more time enjoying the action on the floor,” said Kings President Chris Granger. “We’re excited to upgrade Sleep Train Arena for our final season and then incorporate Appetize’s innovative solutions at Golden 1 Center next year.”

The combination of Appetize’s fixed and handheld POS technology is already bringing efficiencies and increased analytics for the venue’s premium, concession, and retail operations. Supported by a powerful backend system, the platform offers deep analytics, reporting and a live inventory module, which will be key for even tighter business controls and planning.

“Working with forward-thinking partners like the Kings is absolutely our sweet spot” said Kevin Anderson, VP of Business Development at Appetize. “We’re putting faster, easier-to-use interfaces in front of operators and giving managers more controls and insights, all while increasing fan experience.  This is a huge win for Appetize to work with one of the true leaders of innovation in all of sports.”

Over the last five years, Appetize has become a market leader due to its ability to increase sales and provide powerful analytics, which has now been proven at over 300 sports and entertainment properties nationwide, including a massive rollout across 32 of Live Nation’s U.S. venues as well as Madison Square Garden, SunLife Stadium (Miami Dolphins) and over 45 PGA Tour stops.
