Club Med to Sponsor Generation Cup Tennis Tournament Series

Events to be Held in Florida, Mexico, Dominican Republic
Club Med has announced its partnership with the Generation Cup Series in tennis. The Club Med Generation Cup Series consists of four tournaments and will host both senior men and women between 50 – 70 years of age and over. A Championship event will be held in April at Club Med’s premium sports resort, Sandpiper Bay, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. It will feature men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, allowing teams to play at least five matches and get plenty of court time. The tournaments will consist of two out of three sets in round robin format with the third set being determined by a 10-point tie-break.
Grand Slam winner Rosie Casals stated: “Both Rich and I are thrilled to have Club Med as our Title Sponsor of the Generation Cup Series. Sportswoman, Inc: Sportswoman promoted one of the first men and women over 30’s tennis circuit known as the “The Tennis Classics” featuring some of the greatest names in tennis history. Sportswoman worked with Virginia Slims to consult with them for the Virginia Slims Tennis Legends Tour played in the 90’s and also assisted in the celebratory Original “9” event held at Madison Square Garden in the 80’s. It has worked with Family Circle Magazine in bringing several of the legends to the Family Circle Cup to participate in clinics and exhibitions. Most recently Sportswoman promoted and produced the Esurance Tennis Classic in Marin County (S.F. Bay Area) for the last 8 years and worked in conjunction with the Harbor Point Charitable Foundation. The event featured top legends like; Agassi, Graf, Evert, Navratilova, McEnroe and the Bryan brothers. Sportswoman currently works on the Billie Jean King & Friends Event held at California State University and raises money for the Athletic Scholarship Program and the tennis team.
Tennis Media Group: Rich Neher is the owner of Tennis Media Group, promoting tennis events, organizations, programs and professionals through social media outlets, speaking engagements and community building. Rich is also the founder and former Executive Director of the San Diego Tennis Network (SDTN) and has served on the Multi-Cultural Board of the San Diego District Tennis Association. Rich has also worked on the USTA Tennislink Team as Team Lead for the USTA Adult Leagues and NTRP Ratings. After emigrating from Germany 28 years ago, he lived in the Philadelphia area for 5 years, then in San Diego area for 17 years, before moving to the Los Angeles area in 2008.
