Wineglass Race Series Transitioning to a Virtual Event for 2020
1 Oct, 2020
The Wineglass Race Series announces that the 2020 Wineglass Weekend will transition to a virtual event for the 39th Guthrie Wineglass Marathon, the 10th Wegmans Half Marathon, and the Corelle 5K. The virtual event will allow runners to log miles between October 1 – October 31, 2020. Participants can run at their own pace wherever they are during the month of October.
Runners currently registered for any of the races on Wineglass Weekend will automatically be converted to the virtual event. With completion of the required distance for their race, runners will be shipped the ever-popular Wineglass schwag. Full and half marathon finishers will receive a hand-pressed glass medal, quarter zip shirt, insulated wine glass, and runner bag. 5K finishers will receive a long-sleeved shirt, medal and runner bag. Challenge participants will receive a commemorative belt buckle in addition to the 5K schwag and their race specific schwag for completing the full or half marathon.
Those registered who do not wish to compete virtually may choose to donate their entry fee or request a refund.
As a show of appreciation for runners continued support, organizers are offering a 25% discount on 2021 Wineglass Weekend race registrations for those who participate in the virtual races or donate their 2020 entry fee. Registration for the 2021 race will open on December 1, 2020.
"While our communities and the world face new challenges daily, we understand that there is a huge responsibility to ensure the health and well-being of our participants, volunteers, and community" said Sheila Sutton, Race Director. "We will miss the in-person moments this year, but we look forward to staying connected to our Wineglass community in this virtual adventure!”
Registration for the 2020 virtual Wineglass Weekend is currently open. For more information on the virtual race requirements or to register, visit www.wineglassmarathon.com or visit us on Facebook or Instagram.
