PGA Family Golf Championship Hosted for the First Time in the Midwest at Kohler, Wisconsin

Families from across the country are set to tee it up in Kohler this weekend as the PGA Family Golf Championship comes to Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run, Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 30-31).  
 

More than 160 golfers from 28 states will compete in this year’s championship, including seven Wisconsin families with teammates representing Wauwatosa, Green Bay, Cedarburg, Menominee, McFarland, Appleton, Winneconne, and DePere.
 

“Kohler Golf has had a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the PGA of America,” said Mike O'Reilly, PGA, Kohler Co. - General Manager of Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits. “Kohler has hosted many PGA of America events including three PGA Championships, a Club Professional Championship, a PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship, and one of the most successful Ryder Cups of all time. We are pleased to continue this partnership by hosting the PGA Family Golf Championship. We are hopeful that all participants have an amazing time and create family memories that will last a lifetime on the golf courses and in the Village of Kohler.”
 

The two-day scramble will feature teams of 2-4 players, all biologically or legally related, competing in amateur and professional divisions. The professional division includes teams with one or more PGA or LPGA Professional, while the amateur side showcases family golfers of all skill levels. Juniors must be ages 10–17 as of August 30, 2025, in accordance with the American Development Model (ADM).
 

The action begins Saturday, August 30 at 7 a.m. on Blackwolf Run’s Meadow Valleys Course, followed by the final round Sunday, August 31 at 7 a.m. on Whistling Straits’ Irish Course.
 

“This championship is all about celebrating golf as a game families can share for a lifetime,” said Kristi Egnot, Player Engagement Competitions Leader for PGA of America. “It’s incredible to see parents, kids, grandparents, uncles, aunts, spouses, siblings and cousins out here competing together and having fun at world-class venues.”
 

The inaugural event was held in 2023 at PGA West in La Quinta, California, followed by Disney’s Palm Golf Course in 2024.aukee and two and a half hours north of Chicago, just off of I-43.
