The Girls on the Run 5K is slated to take place at Owen Park on May 14. Presented by Gordy's and Visit Eau Claire, the run begins at 10 a.m., while the fun and games for participants and spectators starts at 9 a.m.

Girls on the Run is a non-profit program designed for girls between third and fifth grade to help inspire them to be joyful, healthy and confident by using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.  Those interested in participating in the 5K event can register online at http://gotrchippewavalley.org/events/gotr-5k-run/.

Prior to the race there will be face painting, happy hair, merchandise for sale, music and more.  Also, the day before the race, the Girls on the Run of the Chippewa Valley Sneaker Soiree will be held at The Lismore at 5:30 p.m.  This Girls on the Run benefit features an appetizer reception, an hour-long program and concludes with an afterglow while also including a silent auction, wine pull, hors d’oeuvre and cash bar.  The event’s guest speaker is Molly Barker, founder of Girls on the Run International.
