The 2018 U.S. National Kubb Championship will be held in Eau Claire on the weekend of July 13-15. The 12th Annual Championship Tournament – the largest of its kind outside of Europe and one of the largest in the world – will feature 128 teams. Teams are made up of three or more players. Players and spectators will travel from many different states to compete in this tournament.
The event will take place at the Eau Claire Soccer Park located at Hamilton Ave and Craig Road in Eau Claire.
On Friday, July 13 the U.S. Championship will host the Kid Kubb (U.S. Junior Kubb Championship), which is a tournament open to kids age 12 and younger. This event begins at 9 a.m.
The U.S. Championship will begin Saturday at 9 a.m., with round robin matches, and the playoff rounds will start at 12:45 p.m. The final sixteen teams return on Sunday to play group play at 8 a.m.
The yard game, Kubb, was born in Sweden and is played throughout Europe. Played primarily in the Nordic countries, Kubb can now be found around the world with tournaments in Europe and in the U.S.A. Eau Claire is home to numerous clubs, teams, tournaments and leagues.
This is a free, spectator friendly event and will also feature food, music, and entertainment. The estimated economic impact on the Eau Claire Area from the U.S. National Kubb Championship is over $156,000.
