ABOUT THE OMNI HOMESTEAD RESORT (CASCADES COURSE)
Designed by renowned architect William S. Flynn, the course is set against the backdrop of the Allegheny Mountains and opened its doors for play in 1923. The Cascades Course was the site of amateur Catherine Lacoste’s 1967 U.S. Women’s Open victory. Sam Snead, a four-time U.S. Open runner-up and World Golf Hall of Famer, served as golf professional at The Homestead for nearly six decades. Nationally ranked by several golf publications, The Cascades consistently tops the list of the best Southern Courses, including a No. 1 ranking in Golfweek magazine’s “Best Golf Courses You Can Play in Each State.” The resort received U.S. National Historic Landmark status in 1991.

2024 CHAMPIONSHIP
Nadene Gole secured the win against 2022 champion Shelly Stouffer, 3 and 2, in the 18-hole final at The Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle, Wash. In just her second USGA championship appearance, Gole became the first player from Australia to win the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur title.
CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship debuted in 1962 for female golfers age 50 and older. By the late 1950s, several senior women’s golf organizations had been formed, principally to conduct tournaments, but there was no existing event to determine the national champion. The USGA stepped in, and in January 1962, the Executive Committee approved the formation of the competition.
Senior women’s golf has flourished over the years. Several major competitions have sprung up throughout the country, including the USGA’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open, which debuted in 2018. The Senior Women’s Amateur competition went from a 54-hole, stroke-play event to its current match-play format in 1997.
