U.S. Figure Skating announced today Team USA's entries for the 2016 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic, scheduled for Sept. 14-18 in Salt Lake City. The international senior competition has been held annually since 2012.

Reigning U.S. champion Adam Rippon, 2015 U.S. champion Jason Brown and three-time U.S. ice dance bronze medalists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue will headline Team USA. They will be joined by 2015 U.S. bronze medalist Karen Chen and 2013 U.S. silver medalist Ross Miner.

The U.S. International Classic will be the first in a series of 10 competitions that will make up the ISU Challenger Series. Participation in the Challenger Series is open to skaters/teams of ISU Members eligible for international senior-level competitions and have been entered by their member federation. Athletes may participate in up to three Challenger Series events.

The Challenger Series was formed to give adequate opportunities for athletes to compete at the senior level and earn world standing points. Participation does not preclude athletes from competing in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series or other ISU-sanctioned senior events.

U.S. Figure Skating will work with Salt Lake County and Salt Lake Figure Skating to host the event at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex, which served as the official training venue for figure skating at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

Icenetwork will provide complete event coverage of the U.S. International Classic. Exclusive streaming video of the U.S. International Classic will be available to subscribers, while free recaps, news and photos will be accessible to all users. In conjunction with the International Figure Skating Classic, U.S. Figure Skating will host the U.S. Novice & Junior Challenge Skate, an invitational for nearly 100 American skaters who have competed at a sectional or the U.S. Championships at the intermediate, novice and junior levels. The goal is for athletes to experience an international competition setting. In addition to competing against other top skaters at their levels, athletes will have the opportunity to attend seminars and more.
