The TEXAN BARREL RACE gallops back into Abilene this October 13–19, 2025, at the Taylor Telecom Arena, bringing one of the richest and most exciting barrel racing events in the nation. Produced by Group W Productions, LLC and hosted in part by the City of Abilene Visitor and Convention Bureau, this year’s event features an unprecedented $850,000 guaranteed payout and a competition format unlike any other in the sport.

In 2024, the TEXAN BARREL RACE paid out more than $1 million in total prize money, attracting elite riders and horses from across the United States. Building on that momentum, the 2025 event promises another thrilling week of world-class competition, Western-lifestyle shopping and community entertainment.

A Unique Format with Big Rewards
The TEXAN BARREL RACE is recognized for its innovative structure — riders may enter up to three times on the same horse-and-rider combination, creating more chances to advance and earn.

Each entry includes two qualifying runs, both counting toward the overall payout. With three entry sections available, contestants can make up to six total runs for a spot in the final standings.

Each “D” champion will earn a substantial payout, including a $100,000 first-place check to the 1D Champion — one of the largest single-event prizes in barrel racing.

Free Admission & Family-Friendly Atmosphere
The barrel racing offers free admission to the public to watch the exciting competition and shop inside Vendor Alley, located in First Financial Arena.

Competition begins each morning at 9:00 a.m. and typically lasts about four hours. Spectators are encouraged to come early, enjoy the action, and experience the vibrant vendor marketplace featuring Western apparel, tack, jewelry, décor, and more. The public is warmly invited and welcome throughout the week.
