The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon will continue in The Woodlands, Texas, through 2030 following a new five-year agreement between IRONMAN, Visit The Woodlands, and The Woodlands Township.

This year’s event took place on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The five-year extension ensures that the event, first held in 2011, will remain a key fixture on the IRONMAN calendar.

Scott Langen, Vice President of Operations for IRONMAN North America, stated that the company is “thrilled to continue our partnership with Visit The Woodlands for another five years.

“The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon holds a special place not only in my heart, but in hearts of this community and the athletes who come year after year to conquer this course.” He added, “It is truly remarkable to see the dedication that the local authorities, volunteers, and fans bring to create an exceptional race experience for our athletes here in this great Texas community.”

The IRONMAN Foundation has contributed more than US$1.6 million to local charities since the event’s inception, with annual donations exceeding US$100,000. Thousands of volunteer opportunities are created each year for residents across the region.

Brad Bailey, Chairman of the Board for The Woodlands Township, said the event “not only puts The Woodlands on a world-wide stage for quality and commitment to a great place, it also brings out thousands of our residents who either participate, volunteer and cheer on participants in this grueling competition.”

At this year’s edition approximately 2,500 age-group athletes competed alongside pro athletes, aiming to qualify for the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship events – the men’s race in Nice, France on September 14, and the women’s race in Kona, Hawai`i on October 11.

Nick Wolda, President of Visit The Woodlands, said, “The Woodlands is the perfect setting for this world-class event.

“We’re known around the world as an incredible place to live, but this event demonstrates we’re an incredible place to visit and conduct business.”
