IRONMAN has shared an event status update for its events across the state of Texas. This confirms a postponement of IRONMAN Texas, while IRONMAN 70.3 Texas and IRONMAN 70.3 Lubbock remain on the schedule to take place as planned.

IRONMAN Texas was scheduled to take place in The Woodlands on April 24, 2021. The IRONMAN team has been forced to postpone the event due to COVID-19 restrictions in place in the Harris County area of The Woodlands, and the resulting impact to the event’s bike course.

All potential options are being reviewed and it is IRONMAN’s hope to confirm a new October 2021 event date in The Woodlands by early April.

Optimism does, although, remain for IRONMAN 70.3 Texas in Galveston, scheduled for April 11th, and IRONMAN 70.3 Lubbock, scheduled for June 27nd, with these events hopefully to take place as planned.

IRONMAN adds that its officials have been working diligently with local authorities, agencies, and other key stakeholders to create events that meet local community objectives and are within the expectations set by public health entities. The IRONMAN Safe Return to Racing guidelines will be updated as policies are refined and can be viewed online.

In a statement, IRONMAN noted…

Based on information provided by Harris County and Harris County Toll Road Authority that the Harris County COVID-19 Threat Level System is currently at Level 1: Stay Home, and the resulting impact this has on the bike course, the IRONMAN Texas triathlon unfortunately cannot take place on April 24, 2021.

All potential options are being reviewed and it is our hope to confirm a new October 2021 event date in The Woodlands by early April. Athletes that are registered for the 2021 IRONMAN Texas triathlon will be receiving an email with additional information.

Despite the change for IRONMAN Texas, as of today, the IRONMAN 70.3 Texas triathlon taking place in Galveston on April 11 and the IRONMAN 70.3 Lubbock taking place on June 27, remain as scheduled and preparations are ongoing.

Additionally, IRONMAN officials are working on an additional race location in Texas to host a full-distance IRONMAN event in 2021. More information on this is expected to be finalized and shared in the near future.
