USA Boxing and Sting Sports Partner to Make Over Irving PAL Boxing Gym in Support of DFW Metroplex Youth

In conjunction with the 2016 USA Boxing Prep and Junior Olympic National Championships and Youth Open, USA Boxing and Sting Sports have partnered to make over a Dallas area gym in need of new equipment. The Irving PAL Gym has been outfitted with new boxing gear and equipment for all of their young athletes to use.

2012 Olympian and top professional prospect Errol Spence (Desoto, Texas) was on hand to surprise the kids and show them around their new gym. The Irving Police Athletic League launched their boxing program in 1992 and it has been highly successful since that time, producing numerous state, regional and national champions. The PAL program provides a valuable safe haven for area youth and their athletic programs help instill discipline, focus and a strong work ethic in all of their participants.

All of the equipment was replaced following training on Tuesday, June 28 and the young athletes got the first glimpse at their new gym and specialized boxing equipment on Wednesday, June 29 at 1 p.m.

Sting Sports provided the Irving PAL Gym with nine new training bags, 30 pairs of gloves, and 17 new headguards. Sting Sports is the official equipment sponsor of USA Boxing and their gloves and headgear will be used in the 2016 Olympic Games. Through their relationship with USA Boxing, Sting provided the equipment for the second straight Junior Olympic and Prep National Championships this year in Dallas.

The Irving PAL gym makeover is the first of two scheduled for 2016 as a part of Sting’s partnership with USA Boxing and their support of youth athletics.

USA Boxing, as the national governing body for Olympic-style boxing, is the United States’ member organization of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
