The Corpus Christi Sports Commission in partnership with the South Texas Cornhole League is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first American Cornhole League (ACL) National of the year in Corpus Christi. The event will take place April 7-9, 2023, at the American Bank Center, totaling an expected economic impact of over $600,000 with an anticipated spectator and visitor count of over 2,000.
"We're incredibly delighted that our Corpus Christi bid was awarded with an ACL National. We couldn't have done it without our partnerships at STX Cornhole and the American Bank Center. This is our first major win since the inception of the Sports Commission.
We're looking forward to creating momentum from this and securing more high-level business over the coming fiscal year,” said Joey Jewell, Executive Director of the Corpus Christi Sports Commission.
ACL Nationals is the premier cornhole event of the year and will feature top cornhole competitors from across the country. The tournament will feature both doubles and singles competitions, with cash prizes for the winners.
"South Texas Cornhole is honored to have assisted in bringing a National Tournament to our hometown. Getting ESPN to broadcast from Corpus Christi has been one of our top goals since starting this journey. Not only will this put us on the map as a destination location for future events, but we also get to highlight our hometown and what our city has to offer,” said Jonathan Ibarra, South Texas Cornhole, and ACL Regional Director.
The American Cornhole League invites the community to come out and enjoy the 2023 ACL Kickoff Battle, and to cheer on the players as they compete for the title of ACL Kickoff Battle champion.
