Annual Girl's Powerlifting State Championships to be held in Corpus Christi

The Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) will be hosting the annual Girls Powerlifting State Championships at the American Bank Center Arena on Friday and Saturday March 18-19, starting at 8:00 a.m. This event will bring 750 of the strongest female athletes in Texas to compete in three lifts for team titles and and to determine an individual State Champion. 

Competitions on Friday include 6A, 3A and 2A/1A schools. The 5A and 4A division schools will compete on Saturday. 

The meet will start at 8 a.m. with the Squat competition, followed by the Bench Press competition and concluding with the Deadlift competition. Scoring totals from all three lifts will determine the individual State Champions with the top five lifters in each weight category receiving points for the Team Championship.    

At the end of each day, medals will be presented to winners and a total of 18 scholarships for $1,000 each will be awarded. 

The Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s mission is to promote and govern the strongest women's sport in Texas high school athletics.
