The Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), an affiliate of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, is thrilled to announce that the Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) State Championships will be held in Abilene, March 26 - 28th, 2026.
The Texas High School Powerlifting Association is an organization of high schools dedicated to promoting friendly, healthy, and highly organized competition in the sport of powerlifting for student-athletes across Texas. The THSPA State Championships will bring together high school powerlifters from across the state for three days of elite competition, celebrating strength, discipline, and sportsmanship. Athletes, coaches, families, and supporters will travel to Abilene to witness the culmination of the powerlifting season as competitors showcase their dedication and hard work on the state stage.
“We’re excited to welcome the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Championships to Abilene,” said Robert Lopez, Vice President of the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Events like this highlight Abilene’s strength as a sports destination, and we’re proud to host these student-athletes at the Taylor County Expo Center while delivering a meaningful economic impact for our community.”
The THSPA State Championships is anticipated to generate 1900 hotel room nights and an estimated $1,193,400 in economic impact for local businesses. Key events will be hosted at the Taylor County Expo Center.
