El Paso Live, the venue management division under Destination El Paso, has received accreditation by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, as a Star Facility. This program by GBAC ensures that proper work practices, procedures and protocols to prepare, respond and recover from outbreaks and pandemics are in place at facilities. Accredited facilities managed by El Paso Live include the El Paso Convention Center, Plaza Theatre, Abraham Chavez Theatre, McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre, and Philanthropy Theatre.
GBAC accreditation, a gold star program for preparedness, means that the facility has:
- Established and maintained a cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program to minimize risks associated with infectious agents like COVID-19.
- The proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques and work practices are in place to combat biohazards and infectious disease.
- Highly skilled cleaning professionals are trained for outbreak and infectious disease preparation and response.
“We are thrilled to receive GBAC accreditation as we move towards reopening of our venues and the return of live events,” Bryan Crowe, General Manager of Destination El Paso, said. “This shows patrons that we are taking all the necessary precautions to ensure safety during events, and we hope this offers them a piece of mind as they enjoy our venues once more.”This accreditation now accompanies Destination El Paso’s VenueShield Environmental Hygiene Program, launched by parent company ASM Global in 2020. VenueShield provides the most advanced hygienic safeguards that serve ASM Global’s clients, guests, staff, teams, talent and other visitors. Protocols are customized based on facility, but all align with and are informed by public health authorities, and medical and industry experts.
Additionally, ASM has proactively partnered with and will further consult with leading subject matter experts, health officials and industry leaders in the areas of industrial hygiene, sanitization, and fulfillment to consult on all facets of the VenueShield program.
