New Terrain, Competitive Athletes and $100,000 in Prize Money

The Warrior Dash World Championship returns for a second year on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The event is hosted at Milky Way Farms in Tennessee, moving east after last year’s event in California. The Warrior Dash World Championship is an obstacle course race where international athletes sprint through 3.6 miles of terrain and trails to battle for their share of $100,000 and the ultimate bragging rights.

How to Qualify: Participants qualified for the Warrior Dash World Championship by finishing in the top 25 of their gender in a competitive wave at any of the 30+ international Warrior Dash locations in 2015.

Raising the Competitive Edge in 2014: Last year, over 500 athletes from across the globe competed in Esparto, California. The hilly, 3.1 mile course was dotted with 12 of the season’s most challenging obstacles. To celebrate, Warrior Dash awarded $100,000, the largest prize purse in 5K non-track history, to the top five male and female finishers. Prize purse and tiers remain the same in 2015.

1st Place: $30,000

2nd Place: $10,000

3rd Place: $5,000

4th Place: $3,000

5th Place: $2,000

New Challenges in 2015

Returning for a third year to Milky Way Farm, Tennessee’s terrain will provide a test for returning and new competitors. The 3.6 mile championship course will have an added half-mile, instead of the 3.1 mile distance at other Warrior Dash events. A variety of returning world-class athletes will be back on the battleground, including 2014 Male Champion Max King, Olympian Bridget Franek and OCR Legend, Hobie Call.

“The level of competition [at the Warrior Dash World Championship] is absolutely amazing,” according to King. “You’ve got anybody from obstacle race champions, to Olympians, to fast runners, to guys like Hunter [McIntyre], who are absolute obstacle race animals.”

Warriors + St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Red Frog Events, the company behind Warrior Dash, is nationally partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. Since 2010, Warriors have helped raise $12.2 million dollars for the children and families of St. Jude. These donations go toward a $25-million fundraising commitment to open the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center this fall on the St. Jude campus in Memphis, Tennessee. It will be the first center of its kind specifically designed to treat pediatric cancer.

At the Championship, Warrior Dash will recognize the highest fundraising team for the 2015 Warrior Dash season. Team Missfits 4 Life, based out of Northern California, will travel to complete Warrior Dash for a fourth time, reaching a team fundraising total of $50,000 for St. Jude since 2012. Fundraising events like these help ensure no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on what matters most – helping their child live.

About Warrior Dash: Warrior Dash is the obstacle course race that anyone can start and everyone can finish. With more than 50 international locations and over two million participants since 2009, Warrior Dash has reinvented the concept of a 5K run and created a revolution: Warrior Nation. Elite athletes and novice runners alike will conquer 12 world-class obstacles like Goliath and Great Warrior Wall, wade across wooded lakes, and venture through mud-caked backroads to cross the finish line. Participants are rewarded with a finisher medal (that doubles as a bottle opener and magnet), a sweet t-shirt, fuzzy Warrior helmet, and ice cold beer. At the post-race party, Warriors relive the course with friends, dance to live music, and celebrate the decision to leave their normal weekend in the mud.
