For over 60 years, Memphis hosted the FedEx St. Jude Classic, a professional golf tournament that benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. (In fact, more than $48M has been raised to date for the Memphis-based hospital that treats patients from around the world, regardless of their ability to pay.) In 2018, FedEx took over sponsorship of the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational tournament and brought the event to Memphis, rebranding it the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. The tournament field includes the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. Past tournaments have drawn headliners including Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and last year's winner Justin Thomas.
