Knoxville Is Serving Up Some Fun This Weekend

This weekend the Greater Knoxville Tennis Association (GKTA) will team up with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for an unforgettable competitive sporting event. This event is a state championship competition involving tennis teams across the state of Tennessee, in the age group of 55+. The event will be held May 30 - June 1, 2014. Teams will be present from Knoxville and surrounding cities including; Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Murfreesboro, Tellico and Johnson City.

Visit Knoxville's President, Kim Bumpas stated, "Visit Knoxville values our partnership with GKTA and USTA and looks forward to this exciting event. We hope that everyone will come out and support such wonderful and intense athletes this weekend." 

Matches will begin Friday, May 30 and run through Sunday June 1, at both West Hills Tennis Center and Tyson Park Family Tennis Center, with final matches occurring on Sunday. The event is open to the public. All tennis and sports enthusiasts are also welcome and encouraged to attend the event and watch the state champions of both West Hills Tennis Center and Tyson Park Family Tennis Center.

USTA is a national tennis organization that serves all age groups with competition at the local, state sectional and national levels. After one year of hosting these tournaments, GKTA's Adult 18+/40+ State Tournament was awarded "Adult Tournament of 2013" by USTA-TN.
