Knoxville kicks off Law Enforcement Week with the 6th annual Knoxville Law Enforcement Memorial Run 5k on . The LEMR is a family friendly event for runners and walkers of all levels. Last year well over 500 racers laced up their running shoes in support of this cause. This event is the only race in Knoxville, TN that raises awareness of Police Week (May 12-18, 2013). This race honors all Law Enforcement Officers in the Knoxville - Knox County area and surrounding counties who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and those working on the frontline every day. The race is open to everyone, not just those working in law enforcement. We challenge everyone in our community to participate and show their support for our local heroes.
The race will be professionally chip timed by Total Race Solutions and is a member race of the Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix Series. Runners earn points for participating in the series and placing in the top 10 of their age group for each race. More information on the Series can be found at www.tngrandprix.com
The proceeds of the LEMR will benefit the establishment of a local law enforcement memorial site in Knoxville
