Johnson City Omnium Rolling into Town This Weekend

The 13th Johnson City Omnium race will take place this weekend, June 1st and 2nd.

Nearly 250 cyclists will compete on scenic roads in Carter, Unicoi and Washington Counties. 90% of the competitors will travel from different parts of the country and the world to take part in a race that is considered the most challenging east of the Rockies.

The Johnson City Omnium is the only three-race weekend with maximum championship points on the racing calendar. The three races include the Roan Groan, Time Trial and Criterium.

Johnson City Omnium officials will announce their plans at 11 a.m. tomorrow for features and plans for this year’s races as well as kick off the event on Friday, May 31st in Downtown Johnson City. Announcements will take place in the Farmer's Market Pavilion and will be hosted by Jenny Brock, Mayor of Johnson City, Reneau Dubberly, Race Director and Brad Price, Ballad VP of Administrative and Support Services.
