The first ever axe throwing house in this region is coming to downtown Kingsport.
King’s Sport Axe House, located at 101 Cherokee Street, Suite 20, in Downtown Kingsport, will be opening their doors for an Open House on April 18th and a Grand Opening and Ribbon Chopping ceremony on April 19th.
The Open House on Thursday, April 18th will begin at 5:00 p.m. Their neighbors, High Voltage, will be serving cold beverages and snacks, and A.M. Kingsport Food Truck will be stationed outside. Come check out the new sport of axe throwing, the latest growing trend across the U.S. This night only, you can try out axe throwing for just $5 which gets you 15 throws and $5 off a future reservation.
On Friday, April 19th, starting at 5:00 p.m. they will have their Grand Opening and Ribbon Chopping ceremony with the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. Friday’s event will consist of axe throwing, Hokie Smokie Food Truck on site, High Voltage serving cold beverages, and lots of great giveaways.
Not sure how to throw an axe? King’s Sport Axe House will have staff members at each lane to help teach throwing techniques and make sure you're a throwing AXE-pert before you leave.
“We are so excited to take axe throwing out of the woods and bring it into downtown Kingsport,” said owner Paul Supino. “It’s pretty similar to an over sized game of darts, only much more addicting. Once you hear that first ‘thunk’ as your axe sinks into the wood for the first time, it is such a rewarding sound. However, I understand how people can think of what we do here as scary or daunting, but our staff does a tremendous job of explaining safety precautions, techniques, and helpful tips for safe throwing. We make sure everyone feels completely comfortable before they step up to the lane and make that first throw.”
The new space consists of a rustic, wooden interior, eight sectioned off throwing lanes, a plaid wall, and a conjoining sitting room with their neighbors, High Voltage, a local tap house.
“We are so grateful to have a shared indoor hangout area with High Voltage!” said Supino. “It is the perfect setup for events or hanging out after work. Customers can throw some axes with us for a while, and then take a break and head over to High Voltage for a nice cold beer. However, to ensure all necessary precautions for safety, our knowledgeable staff continuously monitors the venue at all times”
King’s Sport Axe House will have walk-in hours on Thursdays 5pm to 10pm, Fridays 5pm to 11pm, and Saturdays 12pm to 12am. During these walk-in hours they recommend you make a reservation to reserve lanes ahead of time via their website at kingssportaxehouse.com for a guaranteed lane, since walk-ins are on a first come, first served basis. The remaining days will be reserved for private parties and events.
“You wouldn’t believe how much fun axe throwing can be with a group of friends or work colleagues!” said Supino. “It is perfect for company team building exercises, bachelorette or bachelor parties, kid or adult birthday parties, and friends or family group events.”
