VisitPITTSBURGH participated in the long-anticipated return of the celebrated David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLCC) Rooftop Terrace space, newly renovated and open for parties, meetings, celebrations and more.

The completely refurbished space was officially showcased at the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s (PDP) ‘Pittsburgh Opens’ event on Thursday, June 16.

This free event marked the return of a dramatic and unique space that had been meticulously renovated over the last two and a half years. The DLCC Rooftop Terrace offers unrivaled riverfront and city views, expansive walkways, curated rooftop gardens and even flexible seating pods. The space can be customized for varying occasions ranging from small, intimate gatherings to large group events, as well as serving as a great capacity builder for large meetings and conventions coming into the DLCC or local events like that of the PDP.

This free event welcomed Downtown office workers, local residents and visitors to be among the very first to experience the world-class outdoor space. Access to the unique space was made possible by the Sports & Exhibition Authority, owner of the DLCC.

Senator Wayne D. Fontana, Chairman of the Sports & Exhibition Authority, stated prior to the event, “We’re excited to unveil our newly renovated Rooftop Terrace to the Pittsburgh community. Hosting ‘Pittsburgh Opens’ is a perfect opportunity to showcase the space, highlight the sustainable features of the rooftop and support the Downtown neighborhood’s rebound by welcoming back the office community.” He added, “It’s a unique venue, and a unique event – it’s a great combination!”

Added Jerad Bachar, President & CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH, who spoke at the event, “We’re thrilled to welcome back this Only In Pittsburgh venue, one that is ideally positioned to showcase the glorious Downtown views and vistas that rival those of any city in the world.” Bachar further explained, “We know the DLCC Rooftop Terrace is a major draw for both meetings and convention groups coming to the city, along with any local individual or group looking for that ‘wow’ factor in planning their event. The backdrop of our city at night is simply breathtaking.”

The Rooftop Terrace features more than 35,000 square feet with the flexibility to design a multitude of custom spaces. Whether an intimate dinner for 50 or a business reception for more than 1,500 guests, the space will transform any event from ordinary to unique, modern and memorable.
