Three Pittsburgh area professionals earned their Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certifications: Kristen Turner, Director, Convention Services, VisitPITTSBURGH; Jaime Andrade-Budesa, Senior Services Manager, VisitPITTSBURGH and Angie Jasper, National Sales Manager, David L. Lawrence Convention Center. These accomplished individuals will continue to elevate the prestige and integrity of the events industry in Pittsburgh.

The CMP program works to enhance the standard of performance for meeting professionals, serving as a badge of excellence in the events industry. Following years of experience in the profession, extended periods of study and a rigorous exam, CMP certified professionals understand the importance of effective events to all industries of business, something these three individuals hope to amplify while attracting large groups and organizations to Pittsburgh.

“It is important that our staff is educated on the best business models and the latest trends and technologies in the business events industry so that we remain experts in our field and have the competitive edge over other cities,” Brenda Hill, vice president of destination services, said.

Developed and maintained by the Events Industry Council, the CMP exam is cultivated by industry professionals to ensure its validity and application to best practices in the field of events management. Pittsburgh looks forward to continued growth in this field, thanks, in part, to the accomplishments of these three meeting professionals.

More than 11,000 meeting professionals in 55 countries around the globe hold the CMP designation. This unique community represents every sector of the industry—from corporations and associations to government and institutional organizations.
