The Erie Sports Commission will host and support two events on Saturday:

The Color Run

The Color Run will return to Erie for “The Love Tour” on Saturday, August 10. This will mark the fifth time the event has been hosted in Erie since 2014, and the first time since 2017.

Dubbed “The Happiest 5K on the Planet,” The Color Run is an untimed 5K race in which thousands of Color Runners start the race wearing white and are doused from head to toe in color along the race course. In 2019, participants will enjoy new color zones, a re-imagined finish line festival and a new 1970s-inspired aesthetic.

The YMCA of Greater Erie will serve as the local charity partner, and receive a portion of the proceeds.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. in Perry Square.

Sky Lantern Festival, presented by UPMC Hamot and UPMC Health Plan

Lake Erie Speedway will host the Sky Lantern Festival, a locally-created event, on Saturday, August 10 beginning at 5 p.m. Based on the Chinese Paper Lantern, participants will receive a biodegradable, eco-friendly lantern with registration and participate in a group launch at dusk. Until launch, participants will be able to enjoy food, princesses, Star Wars Troopers, music, games, face painting, s’mores, inflatable bounce houses and balloon animals. Parking for this event costs $10.

Autism Society- Northwestern Pennsylvania will serve as a partner for the event.
