The Western PA Team Bass Series, WPTBS, heads to Lake Erie to host the Kings of Bass Tournament presented by FishUSA. Kings of Bass will be held on July 29-30 and run from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“When you have one of the best bass fishing lakes in the U.S. right in your backyard, it’s always rewarding to be able to host an exciting tournament here,” said WPTBS Board Member Billy Hines. “Between the perfect location and fun, unique format, this is an event that I’m sure anglers will not want to miss.”

The event will see anglers competing to catch largemouth bass only on one day, and smallmouth bass only on the other. Kings of Bass guarantees a 100 percent payout, with a $2,000 prize expected for first place based on a minimum of 20 boats competing.

“Erie is a popular destination for leisure anglers, but tournaments provide another opportunity to introduce our fishery to new competitors and their families,” said Erie Sports Commission Executive Director Mark Jeanneret. “We know that once people come and fish here for the first time, they will be counting the days until they can come back.”

Not only can competitors look forward to a great payout, but they can also expect additional prizes and giveaways from sponsors such as St. Croix Rods, Yamamoto Custom Baits, and Gamma Fishing Line.

“We are very excited to be a part of a premier tournament series in our area along with this highly anticipated event,” said FishUSA Marketing Director Nick Taylor. “This partnership comes at a great time, as FishUSA has recently placed a large focus on expanding our bass fishing selection in order to tailor to both avid and beginner bass fishermen.”

WPTBS memberships are not required for this tournament, so anyone can participate. The goal of WPTBS is to provide a fun, competitive, driven, and fair tournament trail for all team anglers regardless of skill level.
