Experience a facial hair extravaganza on September 10th and 11th at the 2021 National Beard & Moustache Championships, presented by Honest Amish. “We couldn’t be happier about having the National Beard & Moustache Championships in Lackawanna County. I’m especially proud because not only is this an amazing and unique event that will bring national attention along with economic impact, but it’s an event that the Visitors Bureau brought in through our sales efforts,” said Curt Camoni, Executive Director of the Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau. Held at Montage Mountain Resorts, competitors and visitors can expect over 50 divisions of glorious facial hair competing for National Titles such as:
- Natural Moustache - Sideburns Freestyle
- Styled, Handlebar Moustache - Full Beard, Best Groomed at multiple lengths
- Dali Moustache - Full Beard, Freestyle
- Natural Goatee, Shaped - Realistic Beard
- Fu Manchu - Attached, Natural Craft Moustache
- Donegal - Creative Beard
The exclusive barbershops for the 2021 Championships are Guy’s Barber Shop from Scranton and Three Saints Barber Shop & Shave Parlor from Jessup. The owners of both shops, Damian Biancarelli and Mike McAndrew, will also be judges for various categories of the Championship. Participants and spectators can receive a haircut, beard trim, or a shave during the competition.
“Going to an event of this caliber is amazing on multiple levels. First, you have some of the strongest competitors from all over the U.S., and second, if you have been involved in the community for a while, it is like a big family reunion. We all have been waiting for the safe return to in-person events for so long now. Getting to compete with, and hug your competitors/friends, will be something we do not take for granted for a long time.” – Jason Kiley, National Full Beard Freestyle Champion
