Race to be Held September 26 at Lake Erie Speedway

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the Insane Inflatable 5K, a new, dynamic fun run series made up of inflatable obstacles is coming to Erie on Saturday, September 26. The event series is taking place in more than 70 cities across the United States.

The event will take place at Lake Erie Speedway. The first wave of runners leaves at 8:45 a.m. with additional waves leaving every 15 minutes until approximately 12:00 p.m.

The 11+ obstacles combine imagination, creativity, and most importantly, a dose of fun coupled with a touch of insanity. Five new obstacles have been added to the signature inflatables for the 2015 tour, all of which range in size and complexity. These include “Pure Misery,” a 100-foot obstacle testing strength, agility, flexibility, and endurance, “Jump Around,” the largest inflatable of its kind with more than 70 feet of bounce pad, and “Vertigo,” the most awe-inspiring inflatable of the event where participants climb to the top of a six-story slide and slide down to finish the race and claim their medals.

The Insane Inflatable 5K is designed to be accessible to everybody – from competitive runners looking for a different type of challenge, to weekend warriors looking for the next great obstacle run, and even those armchair athletes looking to try something fun and new.

The event will also have a “Midway” where participants can enjoy games, food, beverages, merchandise, and gear from local vendors and sponsors.

Registration is $52 until July 3, with prices increasing until event day or until the event sells out. Children are welcome to participate, with a suggested minimum age of 8 years old and a minimum height requirement of 42”.

A portion of the proceeds from the race will go to a local charity, to be announced at a later date.

“We are very excited to bring the fastest growing 5K fun run to Erie,” said Stuart Kaul, Director of Events for Insane Inflatable 5K. “This is a great event with something for everyone – families and friends alike – with the biggest takeaway being a few hours of healthy fun and camaraderie.”

“There is no event quite like the Insane Inflatable 5K, and we are excited to bring it to Erie,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Our hope is that families and participants from all across the region will come to Erie to experience such a fun, unique event.”
