The Erie Sports Commission (ESC) is pleased to announce that the inaugural Champion Cheer Central’s “Splash into Spring” Lake Erie Cheer and Dance Championship will be held April 6, 2014 at the newly-renovated Erie Insurance Arena.

Approximately 70-100 teams in six divisions are expected to participate in the inaugural event, which will attract more than 1,000 cheerleaders and dancers across Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio. Champion Cheer Central organizer Kimberly Soder is thrilled to be bringing this event to Erie saying, “We are so excited to be working with the Erie Sports Commission on the newly-created event at the Erie Insurance Arena. We are looking forward to hosting a very successful event and, with the help of the ESC, transitioning it into a National Championship in the near future.”

“The ESC is very happy to be bringing the Splash into Spring Championships to Erie” ESC Executive Director Ron Sertz commented. “The newly renovated Erie Insurance Arena will provide a great venue for this event which we are confident will quickly evolve in scope and size to become a premiere event in the state.”

Spectator tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children.  Children 5 and under get in for free.

The Erie Sports Commission is committed to promoting the Erie region as a prime destination for sports and recreation.  The major goals of the ESC are to attract, create, support, and host sporting and recreational events that have a positive economic impact on the region, and assist in maximizing the potential of all regional sports facilities and venues.  The ESC strives to enhance the image of Erie by showcasing the community, promote wellness through healthy lifestyles, and improve the quality of life for community members of all ages.
