Popular Go-Fast Powerboat Event to Feature 60 High-Performance Boats June 10-12

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the Erie Poker Run will be held for the second year June 10-12, 2016. The popular go-fast powerboat event will be able to accommodate up to 60 high-powered speed boats, which will be housed at the Wolverine Park Marina on Presque Isle Bay.

Performance boating enthusiasts from across the Northeastern United States and Canada will convene in Erie before making five stops at establishments on the shores of Lake Erie to complete a poker hand. The 2015 event had 47 registered boats, including 44 from outside of Erie. Boats from as far away as Florida are expected for the 2016 event. The event is being run by Elite Poker Runs, LLC and sponsored by Toystore Auto Group, Precision Power Offshore, and Lindsey Construction.

Participants will leave Presque Isle Bay at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, and make stops at Barcelona Harbor in Westfield, N.Y., Chadwick Bay Marina in Dunkirk, N.Y., Sunset Bay Beach Club in Irving, N.Y., and Rum Runners before returning to Wolverine Park Marina to complete the official poker run.

Event directors have added a Friday Lunch Run for boaters to the 2016 schedule, along with a contingency plan for Sunday, in case of inclement weather on Saturday.

Registration is open at www.elitepokerruns.com for $350 per boat and $125 per crew member.

The run will attract performance boats of all makes and sizes.  Spectators can expect to see many impressive V-Bottoms, Catamarans, and Center Consoles.  Boats will be on display for spectator viewing throughout the weekend in front of the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will go to the Bradley H. Foulk Children’s Advocacy Center.

“Our boaters were very impressed with Erie last year, and we can’t wait to come back again in 2016,” said Anthony Scioli of Elite Poker Runs, LLC. “With new run opportunities on Friday and Sunday, boaters will be in Erie for longer, giving the public more time to check out the boats.”

“Simply put, the Erie Poker Run is an incredible event,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “These are high-powered, flashy boats, and it’s a truly unique sight to see.”
