Erie Hosting National Cheer and Dance Championships This Weekend

More than 110 Teams to Compete Sunday at Erie Insurance Arena

The Splash into Spring Lake Erie National Cheer and Dance Championships will make its mark on the Erie Insurance Arena Sunday, as it hosts more than 110 teams from around the Great Lakes region. Three full paid bids to the U.S. Finals will be awarded at this national championship meet.

In addition to the bids, the event host, Champion Cheer Central, will be presenting The Season’s Best Award and the I-Award to an organization or coach who shows integrity, enthusiasm, and passion for cheer and dance.

The event is the final competition in the “Battle of Lake Erie,” a series of six Cheer and Dance events in cities along Lake ErieMore than 1,500 athletes ages 3-23 and representing four states will compete in the event. Local teams will participate from X-Cel Athletics, Our Lady’s Christian School, Our Lady of Peace School, and Paula and Judy’s Dance Connection.

Admission is $12 for Adults, $6 for children, and free for those 5 years old and under.

Session One performances will get underway at 9 a.m. Four sessions of performances will continue throughout the day, with final awards being distributed at 7:45 p.m.

Champion Cheer Central will also hold a cereal drive for the Bethany Outreach Center at the event.
