The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that SmashErie, an Erie-based eSports organization, will host its first Major Smash Ultimate Event, Brawl on the Bay, at the Bel-Aire Clarion Hotel on Sunday, June 30.

SmashErie looks to provide a place where young adult players of all skill levels can compete and improve with other locals and some of the greatest players across the region. The group aims to become a unified banner for all to rally behind, seeking to make a name for Erie in the world of eSports. The organization has been hosting monthly regional tournaments since January 2019.

“eSports is one of the fastest-growing event categories in sports tourism nationwide, and we are thrilled that Erie can be counted among the destinations attracting these talented eSports players to our venues,” said Mark Jeanneret, CSEE, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We are eager to continue working with SmashErie on new event opportunities, and support them in their efforts to expand eSports in our region.”

The tournament is expected to attract some of the highest-ranked players in the tri-state area, as it features a $1,500 prize pool. The event will be capped at 100 players.

The tournament will be a three-stock with seven-minute rounds. The Stagelist includes Battlefield, Final Destination, Pokemon Stadium 2, Smashville and Town and City. Counterpicks will include Yoshi's Story, Kalos League and Unova Pokemon League.

Registration is $20 through June 15th. Fees will increase to $30 from June 16-25. Walk-in entries will not be accepted if pre-registration reaches its cap.
