World’s Largest Event Series is Back in Perry Square Saturday, Aug. 10

The Erie Sports Commission (ESC) is pleased to announce that The Color Run will return to Erie, Pa. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 with “The Love Tour." This will mark the fifth time that the event will be hosted in Erie since 2014. The event was not held in Erie in 2018.

Registration for the event will open on Tuesday, April 23.

“We are thrilled that The Color Run has decided to return to Erie in 2019,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “This event has had enormous success in our region, with tens of thousands of participants bringing the energy and fun to Perry Square each and every time. I’d like to thank our partners at The Color Run and the City of Erie for helping us to make this happen.”

Dubbed “The Happiest 5K on the Planet,” The Color Run is an untimed 5K race in which thousands of Color Runners start the race wearing white and are doused from head to toe in different colors along the race course. The Erie race will start and end in Perry Square.

On “The Love Tour,” the theme for its 2019 series, The Color Run is encouraging people to show love for themselves, each other and the planet.

The Love Tour will also feature a new 1970s inspired aesthetic, new photo ops and redesigned merchandise. The 2019 course also features two new “double color” zones, in addition to the regular checkpoints, where runners are doused in colored powder during their run. After the race, runners will enjoy a reimagined finish festival, featuring a live DJ and massive color throws.

“The Love Tour definitely has a special feel to it,” said Isaac Krieger, The Color Run Erie event director. “Every color runner is going to leave the event feeling like they were just a part of something extraordinary.”
