Cheer and Dance Extravaganza Set for December 5

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the Lights! Camera! Action! Cheer and Dance Extravaganza will be held for the first time at the Bayfront Convention Center on Saturday, December 5. The event, hosted by Champion Cheer Central, expects to host more than 50 teams from the tri-state area.

The competition is open to school, recreation, and all-star cheer and dance teams.

The top three places will receive discounts to the Lake Erie Cheer and Dance Championships, which will return to the Erie Insurance Arena for the third year in April 2016. The Grand Champion will receive a paid bid.

Champion Cheer Central will be awarding prizes for teams who dress to fit the “Hollywood” theme, and five paid bids will be awarded to “The One Cheer and Dance Finals” event.

Registration is $25 per participant before November 14, $30 per participant from November 15-21, and $35 per participant after November 21.

“Erie has proven to be a great location for our past cheer and dance events, so we are hopeful that the move to the Bayfront Convention Center will allow this event to grow,” said Heather Petz of Champion Cheer Central. “As always, we are going to exceed expectations and provide these cheerleaders and dancers with a fun and highly-competitive event.”

“Moving this event to the Bayfront Convention Center creates the possibility for significant event growth,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We can’t wait to show these young athletes how much Erie has to offer.”

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for children, and free for kids under 5 years old.
