The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce The Bass Federation Mid-Atlantic Division Championship will be held in Erie Wednesday, September 23 through Friday, September 25.

Tournament Director Randy Sullivan projects that nearly 100 anglers will participate in the event, representing six states and the District of Columbia.

Participating anglers competed at various state-level tournaments throughout the season to qualify to be a part of each state’s 12-person team at the divisional level. The Mid-Atlantic Division Championship will host qualifying anglers from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, and Washington D.C. The top two anglers from each state at the Divisional level will qualify to compete in The Bass Federation National Championship.

The tournament will launch daily at 7 a.m. from Presque Isle State Park’s West Pier and will be held on all fishable Lake Erie, Pennsylvania waters, including Presque Isle Bay. Weigh-ins will be held at Perry Monument, beginning at 3 p.m. each day.

Anglers will begin to arrive in Erie as early as Friday, September 18 prior to the official practice days on Sunday, September 20 and Monday, September 21. Registration and a sponsor welcome banquet will be held at the Bel-Aire Clarion Hotel on Tuesday, September 22 at 4 p.m.

The Bass Federation will also hold a Mr. Bass Last Chance event Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27. The Last Chance Tournament will give anglers a chance to qualify for the State Championship in October.

“Erie is known for its fishing, and our anglers are excited to compete here,” said Sullivan. “With the Erie Sports Commission’s help, we’re going to show the region’s top anglers a competitive, exciting tournament.”

“The Bass Federation is a top national bass fishing organization, and we’re thrilled that they’ve chosen to host such a high-profile event in Erie,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We’re excited for the opportunity to show these anglers that Erie is a great fishing city, and great overall destination.”
