Third Annual Nick Symmonds Springfield 800 Coming to Area in October

Springfield, Oregon is offering runners, residents and all those interested the chance to challenge an Olympian in order to raise funds for a good cause.

The ability to run with five-time 800 meter U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian and Springfield resident Nick Symmonds is the only "straight 800" meter road race in the U.S. and it returns to Springfield on October 17. The 3rd Annual "Nick Symmonds Springfield 800" will take over 5th Street in the historic Washburne District in Downtown. Join Nick, other elite athletes and community members from Springfield and Eugene for this all new road race and community party.

Unlike a typical 800 meter race- which is two laps around an Olympic track, runners of all levels will be able to test themselves on a straight road course with no turns.  Several waves of skill levels will be available and all runners will be chip timed for the most accurate 800 possible.  For the second year, this race will be sanctioned by the USATF.

Race waves:
5:45pm - Walkers

6:00pm - Youth
6:10pm - Masters Women
6:20pm - Masters Men
6:30pm - Open Women
6:40pm - Open Men
6:50pm - Elite Women
7:00pm - Elite Men
