Supertri has reported strong results for the first edition of the Toronto Triathlon Festival held under its banner, stating that the event exceeded expectations in scale and participation. Supertri took over operations of the 12-year-old event in Canada for its 2025 debut.
The company said the growth across key metrics has laid the foundation for the event to become a major stop on the international triathlon calendar.
Highlights from Supertri Toronto’s first year:
- Largest race weekend in the event’s history, with over 3,000 participants reported – an increase of 20%.
- Estimated economic boost for the city of C$5.8 million (including direct, indirect, and induced contributions).
- Record interest from outside Ontario, with 40% of registrants coming from outside the province and internationally.
- Nearly C$50,000 raised for SickKids Hospital through the Corporate Challenge.
Michael D’Hulst, Supertri Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said “Toronto welcomed Supertri with open arms – the enthusiasm and community support exceeded our expectations.
“We saw overwhelming engagement from new triathletes, strong satisfaction levels, and a bold signal that Toronto is ready to become a premier triathlon destination. We’re energised to build on this momentum for 2026.”
Supertri’s event weekend featured both the professional Supertri League races and mass participation races.
The event saw significant social and community impact, with thousands of spectators and partners engaging across downtown Toronto, and 540 million impressions delivered in earned media coverage.
With the recent acquisition of the New Jersey State Triathlon, Supertri now operates a diverse calendar of mass-participation events in North America, with Toronto joining races in Chicago, Long Beach, Austin, Kerrville, and New Jersey.
