The International Jump Rope Union (IJRU) has delayed its online Virtual World Championships to allow competitors more time to prepare for the event.

Remote competitions are replacing the usual IJRU World Championships, which had been due to take place in Ottawa in July. The IRJU Board of Directors has agreed to push back the timeline of the Virtual World Championships, meaning August 9 to 25 is now the submission window for video entries.

Judging will be done between September 5 and October 3, with entries and results hoped to be broadcast in October over the course of several days. Meeting remotely, the Board also accepted the Rope Jumping Federation of Guatemala as the global body's newest member, giving it observer status.

There are now 13 IRJU members in the Americas, and 59 across the globe.

It was decided by the Board that membership reviews for national governing bodies which joined in 2019 will be delayed by a year, until 2022, in light of the pandemic. December 11 has also been set as the date for the next IJRU General Congress.

The IJRU has Global Association of International Sports Federations observer status.
